August News 2010 This erratic summer, with its days varying from mild to swampish, is now in its second half. So what’s ahead this month? We have the annual Woodward Dream Cruise and the last bit of heat before the students return to school. For all of you that have spent too much time indoors, make sure to take advantage of the last bit of summer before it’s gone. During the Dream Cruise this month, while we are all stuck in a traffic jam on Bower Street trying to get in or out of the parking lot, there will be some official festivities taking place. On Saturday August 21st, downtown Birmingham will host the Birmingham Cruise Event to celebrate the region's automotive heritage. Activities include a variety of automotive exhibits, sponsor displays, and a variety of vendors - all complementing the classic car show, which features hundreds of classic cars on display on Old Woodward between Brown St. and Lincoln Ave. The Birmingham Cruise Event area features prime viewing spots for car enthusiasts to catch all the action on Woodward while enjoying a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. You should walk by it if you can! This month we feature another retail establishment exposed to old Woodward at the 555. The beautiful Center For Yoga was moved into a larger and more luxurious space earlier this year. The Center For Yoga has three locations and we are lucky to have one of them located here. It has been a very influential community in the practice of Yoga throughout the Mid-West. For those of you new to Yoga and wondering what it is, I would describe yoga as being whatever you want it to be. Whether it’s physical fitness, elongating stretches, mental balancing, spiritual exercise, meditation, deepening of emotional understanding or facing ones fears yoga has a deep history for anyone to explore. Johnny Kest, its founder, began practicing yoga when he was twelve in Hawaii and he is very much respected and admired by so many yoga practitioners in the area. He has attracted the best teachers and each provides a unique experience and practice for you to engage in. There are many reasons to do yoga, but besides all the health benefits and creative explorations, right now there is also a bargain incentive for new students/practitioners. Enjoy your first day free and complimentary as an invitation and on that day, purchase one month at $99 and get an additional month free. After your two months you can extend to a practice plan that fits your schedule. So go ahead, with the best yoga studio around at your door step you might as well give it a try! Visit www.centerforyoga.com for more information or drop into the Center yourself. Enjoy the month ahead and best wishes, 555 Staff Don’t forget, if you are having an issue in your apartment you can now e-mail us your work order through the website under the resident page or directly at Leasing@555luxuryapts.com Any work orders sent between the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm Monday through Friday will be addressed that day.
